Recent Scenes, A few Finds and Frock on a Friday

Easter scenes from our place...

Homemade like a boss.

Newest wool blanket - I am in love with this one!!
FINALLY the weather has chilled a bit - and the wool blankets have made their way onto the beds!
So yeah - I've been concentrating on de-cluttering lately.. Our garage was floor to ceiling with STUFF from our move (3 years ago!!) that was n our loft and our shed at the other house. It had just sat in the garage till now! Time to reclaim the garage!
Epic garage sale coming up in a week's time.

SO I haven't been accumulating much lately. It would defeat the purpose!

However, we went down to Taranaki last week for a holiday, and I got just a few things. It would have been rude to not have gone op shopping down there!

50c shirt and John found a Deane workwear shirt (one of his fav brands)

The kids are loving this Crown Lynn mug.

LOVE this aladdin thermos.
To add to my huge collection of these.

Actually I found this in Hamilton quite a while ago for $4.

Taranaki Nana dress and the sheets down there are CHEAP!! I was very restrained as I have so many it's ridiculous. But if you need some - go down to New PLymouth!!!!  Loads, and cheap cheap cheap.

6 months. Dress was op shopped about 6 weeks ago.. I think it might be an actual preggy one as it's so comfy.
Old man's cardy op shopped maybe 20 years ago (LOL!) and worn relentlessly ever since!

Monthly PosT!

Yes it seems I am managing a post a month right now!
I have technical issues too - my ancient PC is in serious need of being upgraded..
Frustratingly, it takes a long time to do anything on here.. My last post took 3 attempts to put up. While I'm on this topic, I would like to apologise to my blog friends - I can't open quite a few of  your blogs - it goes straight offline when I try - so annoying. Hoping to remedy the situation soon!!

Here are a few finds from the last few weeks..
This was ST Patrick's Day - I found these perfect little old things at Vinnies the week before. Bonza.

Vinnies half price sale - egg cups for the 'pretending kitchen', tea tin, quite a cool kitsch cake tin, (I just hang the lids on the wall, and use the box for storage). Etc.

Brilliant sleeping bag. Doesn't smell at all (Do y'all do the smell test like me?!)

Cute shoes for baby. (50c)

70s invitations.
20c drawstring bags. Great for puzzle pieces, socks, gloves,  etc etc. I love these things.

Um yeh more baskets/bins. Also great for socks etc!

Great glasses cases for my collection. Vinnies in Frankton has baskets full of glasses cases ALWAYS and glasses behind the counter. They are $1. Little tip for interested locals!

Easter tat.

I've said before how I really don't hunt down clothes for myself at the op shops these days. They are just TOO pricey.
I buy at jumble sales 'fill-a-bag-for-$5' usually instead lol.
But at recent half price sales I found a few nice dresses.. and at half price it's do-able (eg $3, $4) I'll try to model some of these soon-ish!
Great skirt/dress that goes nicely over the bump. And a sheet obvs.

This was a the kind of thing I used to get given for my birthday as a kid. It's 1973 and very cute. Made in Japan.
 25c (half price)

It's now in my handbag.

So that's about it. I actually have a few posts lined up that I'll attempt to put up..
Hope all you readers are enjoying April so far!
Strange wet stuff fell from the sky today here in Hamilton. Arlo didn't really know what it was.

Happy Days!

16 March 2014

Yip I'm still here!

My blog posts appear to be at a dismal distance from each other!
I used to do blogging in the evenings usually - now, in the evenings, I find myself wilting and usually just go to bed! Lame.
I am trying to rectify this situation. Thank you, iron supplements.

Op Shopping is also at an all time lame low!
I even went to the dump to drop some recycling off the other day, and I DIDN'T GO INTO THE OP SHOP there!!! WHAT??!! My husband did not believe me. I hardly believed me!!!
(To be fair, it was a mosh pit in the car park and I couldn't be bothered hustling)

But I've popped in to the odd shop.

Genuine 70s tank $1 Vinnies half price sale...

Classic Hornsea

Cute old Crown Lynn..

Dominion Breweries maybe?

Primo curtains that seem to have been made-to-measure for my son' s room = stoked. Half price sale ($2.50)

Homemade top from a little church oppy that is only open 2 days a week

Maybe my favourite recent new acquisition.. also from the little oppy. $3. Fits over a bump. Yayar.

Old dress for Iris.

Togs for post baby.

First bump shot! 5months.

Happy Days!!

Currently 4 months along.
Might explain my lack of posts lately!!
Just so lacking in energy - but mojo is slowly crawling back, thanks to some mean iron supplements.

Slim Pickings

This Op Shopping Mama hasn't been op shopping much!
The times I have, I have been disappointed by the lack of stuff I'm into,
and how overpriced a lot of it is..

I don't often experience this.
It will be a temporary thing, I know.

Anyway - here are some of my recent finds, like from the last month..

Very South Island-y photo in a frame.

Quite a few new shirts and other clothes actually in half price/end of season sales..
Framed picture book pages. 50c so I had to get them.

Cute quilt.

FAB jacket (vinyl) Very cool. Modelled by one of my boys.

And I hadn't finished sharing my new treasures from the garage sale series (they had at least 4 - I missed the last 1 or 2 when we were away for a few weeks)
Here and here are my previous posts about that lovely sale.

This little old doll has very cute knitted clothes - even undies. Her eyes open when she sits up.
I will give this to Iris in the future.

WE used to call these Swaps when we were kids - I'm sure they had a proper name!
A whole lot of them - SO awesome!!!

Just a selection - there are too many to photograph.

I particularly like the brownie ones. (top right)
I got a HUGE box full of olds mags.. ranging from 60s to the 80s. I am loving reading them. There are all sorts.

When people first got freezers, they also needed a publication to explain how to use one.. it includes what to freeze, how to freeze it, how it is safe, how to thaw etc... Fascinating stuff!

Blank albums. ONE DAY I'll fill all my fabulous blank albums with ACTUAL photos that I will have printed out!!

Fab postcard book from Disneyland. Very 'retro' photos.

Happy Days!

BOO!!!

I'm still alive!!
The kids went back to school today.. so I have some breathing  blogging space.
Phew!!

I love the holidays. A lot.
But BUSY is what it ends up being, just on account of the numbers!
Home schoolers: RESPECT!

We made a list of what we wanted to do, and ticked it all off...
For example:

Camping-
tick.

Beach-
 tick.

Pick blueberries-
tick.

Go to the BMX track-
 tick

***Etc..

We feel thoroughly holidayed!

Have a Good One!

No post for a week...sorry..

Busy, Fun, Crazy times round here.

So this is to wish y'all the best of times this CHristmas, whatever you are getting up to..

And here's my favourite CHristmas Song.. It is quite long but def worth a listen.. This will particularly resonate for antipodeans..

I have listened to this so many times, but I STILL get choked up from about 3.45..
Beautiful.
(word of warning as I don't wish to offend readers with various views/beliefs: this guy is not a christian.)

Happy Days.
