Garage Sale booty

Spin it and it twirls mesmerisingly. The kids love it.

Summer colours!

Cute old tin bowl and old pram. LOVE them.

Imagine my delight at finding these 2 boxes for $1. I forced myself to wait until the kids were in bed before I sifted through it.. what joy!

Um yeh this old girl has been rat attacked. Macabre! And rather ironic as she was bought from the Cats Protection League garage sale! LOL!!!!
She is NOT a keeper, sadly. If the rat had bitten her arse, that would probably have been OK....

But this lot is a keeper!
1975 Holly Hobbie dolls... and all their stuff.
And a strange little very
old collector doll..

I had a sindy doll like this. I've been collecting the old ones up, as their legs and body shape are a lot more realistic, in my opinion. (Also, the old ones had eyes that looked sideways and, according to an article I read recently, the straight ahead modern barbies etc.. convey a much more blank and submissive face. Lecture over.)
But mainly, these old girls are a nostalgia trip for me.

Strangely attracted to these chaps. Look at that one-horned purple bull. He's quite cute. Quite old, these guys.

I have 2 more boxes which I have not had a chance to sort through yet!! Yay! I've forgotten what it all is! I will get the chance tomorrow, and I can't wait!! They're out in the garage right now..

I KNOW you all want a maxi like this!! Isn't it magnificent?! Lucky Sindy.

Retro dollhouse furniture. Fantastic colour scheme. And one day I'll find the dollshouse I've been hunting for, and I'll put this lot in, and all the rest I've collected up!

Joining up to Her Library Adventures if you want to check out other booty from around the globe!!

Video treat

So I thought I'd do a little tongue-in-cheek number with my guitar for all the peeps, to show my (ahem) support for the ALL BLACKS.

I put it on my facebook account, but I'm totally buggared if I cannot load it to my blog, no matter how hard I try.

It is maybe a little long, or something..

ANYWAY.. if you want to hear it, try this. I'll make my account public for a couple of days!! Otherwise, befriend me (you can de-friend me straight after you watch it if you want) I haven't put things on youtube before, I know that would be the easiest way to link up..

Just if you're curious..

BLACK OUT

For those of you who don't know, the rugby World Cup kicks off today, here in NZ.

This country is a bit  ridiculously obsessed with rugby.

The kids got caught up in RWC fever, with their blackout today, in support of our national team, The All Blacks. All I can say is - THANK goodness our colour is black. No offence to my aussie counterparts intended, but yellow and green would be SO hard to do en masse!!

Another thing, it is impossible to get a sensible photo of an 8 year old boy, I'm finding.

COLLECTION SELECTION #11

GLASSES CASES

This feature of mine used to be called 'Weekly Collection Selection' as that was my challenge - to blog about a collection, or part of one, every week... Yeh well life just gets in the way too much to keep that regime up!! I am still aiming to get to 52 though!!

This is just a small collection.
There are a couple of others.. incl a very cool one that John puts his prescription sunnies in, but he had those at work when I took these photies today...

Collected over the years. I can literally NEVER pass one of these by.

These have been in use by me from time to time over the past 15 - 20 years., except the top left I just got a few months ago.

(They don't all have glasses in..) These glasses are my favourite. They were my Mum's and I wear them every now and then.
Rose tinted of course!

Check out this 'Shepherds' Delight' last night. Yes, it WAS a beautiful day today!

Wonderful Weekend

SPRING WEEKEND - so nice!!!

Had a party (finally) for Iris. (2) with her friends and brothers..

Gil is convinced that knights have orange trousers. He is really adamant about that. Bless him!

Sir Gilbert, the Great.

Happy Fathers' Day
yesterday.
He rocks!

I decided to go to a BALL would you believe it, on Saturday night with a friend of mine. I obviously didn't have time to create something to wear.. so I found the only thing I had that was slightly ball-ish (everything is still in boxes and bags) .. I avoided the cameras all night though.. but we had fun!!! Love spontaneous decisions like that!

Recent Finds

 I've been op-shopping..
Whoops.
I have never had great resolve.
There are still things to be unpacked.
Never mind!!

Add fabric to make a funky catsuit!
Hours of fun!

Um yeh, she's not a recent find, but she's so cute I had to chuck a photie in!

Not particularly retro but I found this number. It looks a bit like some of my wallpaper!

As in my previous post, taking a photo of myself is complicated!

"Rupert, Rupert the Bear, everyone sing his name!"

This even has a funky backing. Love it!

I think this is a tea cosy..
(Gil playing with the 20c label!)

I can't resist these spoons. We use them, we don't hang them up as a collection.

OK this is a major thrill..
These are hand tinted photos.
In original frames.
Having a daughter called Iris makes this find particularly thrilling!

JOY!
