Frock on a Friday

I went for Tapas last night with some 'old' school friends.
We catch up every now and then.
I'm trying to get all my catch ups done before I am attached to a baby/couch for 3 or 4 months...
Excuse the slapped arse face...
My entire outfit is op shopped of course (
I always end up having to write that, surprise surprise!!)
and probably cost a total of $4 or $5.. Apart from my boots which were Campers bought on Trademe..
All these photos were taken in bare feet as putting on shoes/boots is actually an epic mission at the moment and I ended up doing it in the car on the way!! (I was not driving lol!!)

That's a cheesy smile because I escaped from the bedtime mayhem last night. Yeah! John is going to the rugby tonight so it will be my turn. Not quite so yeah!!!
However, the floor still looked a bit like that when I got home.. Chaos! There are also racks of washing everywhere and piles of washing waiting to be done... ENough rain already!!! Today is actually lovely.
Nearly 35 weeks...
School Holidays have just started for 2 weeks..
HAPPY DAYS!!!!

Recent Scenes, A few Finds and Frock on a Friday

Easter scenes from our place...

Homemade like a boss.

Newest wool blanket - I am in love with this one!!
FINALLY the weather has chilled a bit - and the wool blankets have made their way onto the beds!
So yeah - I've been concentrating on de-cluttering lately.. Our garage was floor to ceiling with STUFF from our move (3 years ago!!) that was n our loft and our shed at the other house. It had just sat in the garage till now! Time to reclaim the garage!
Epic garage sale coming up in a week's time.

SO I haven't been accumulating much lately. It would defeat the purpose!

However, we went down to Taranaki last week for a holiday, and I got just a few things. It would have been rude to not have gone op shopping down there!

50c shirt and John found a Deane workwear shirt (one of his fav brands)

The kids are loving this Crown Lynn mug.

LOVE this aladdin thermos.
To add to my huge collection of these.

Actually I found this in Hamilton quite a while ago for $4.

Taranaki Nana dress and the sheets down there are CHEAP!! I was very restrained as I have so many it's ridiculous. But if you need some - go down to New PLymouth!!!!  Loads, and cheap cheap cheap.

6 months. Dress was op shopped about 6 weeks ago.. I think it might be an actual preggy one as it's so comfy.
Old man's cardy op shopped maybe 20 years ago (LOL!) and worn relentlessly ever since!

Happy Days!

Frock on Friday

This is a catch up Friday Frock.

A few weeks ago our school (Woodstock)
had a fundraiser Quizz Night.

They couldn't find anyone famous so I had to be the quizz master/MC..

The theme happened to be 'Op Shop'..
Not my idea - but I was obviously able to oblige!

I had a few emergency calls from some of my friends who needed frocks...
I got a selection out.
Some are from LONG ago, that I haven't worn for ages, mainly because I can't fit my ass(ets) in.

As the Quizz Master, the 'tache was obligatory.
I absolutely love this green dress. It is SO comfy.
The necklace was my Mum's meeting necklace (or that's what I called it)
She wore it when she went to Borough Council meetings in Greytown (my home town)
I remember the long boots, the perfume
and this necklace! (circa 1976/77)

Jo wore this fabulous 70s bridesmaid's number.
I found it a couple of years ago and I LOVE it.
It is so OTT it is INSANE!
Happy Days!

Frock on a Friday: And it was All Yellow

SO today is Daffodil Day here, the annual fundraiser for the Cancer Society.

When I only had one or two kids
I used to help with the fundraising efforts on this day, selling daffodil brooches for a donation..

And before that I used to deliver yellow bunches of daffodils to businesses and shops (for the Cancer Society)..

Now we just dress in yellow,
buy a daff each from the street sellers
and the kids go to school in yellow, with their gold coins to donate.

And  I think about those struggling and lost
and I just cuddle my healthy babies and think about how lucky and healthy we are.

And how much I miss my Mum..

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

The Frock part!

Last year I found that I actually, surprisingly didn't have any yellow clothes!

I made it a bit of an op shopping mission to find some yellow by the last Friday of August this year...
I now have a few options!
Today I wore:
* a very yellow towelling dress (70s/80s)
* a yellow two-piece negligee set
* yellow laced-sneakers - they have yellow flowers on the side. (bought in the Naki)
I didn't wear the negligee to playgroup.
I might one day.
Lol.

Strangely, as we walked to playgroup this morning we saw a very yellow truck  and an even yellower rubbish truck. (not seen a yellow one before) Iris was pretty excited about that!
Daffodil bracelet-making.
Yellow dress from Gabrielle.
There is hope
and there is joy.

But cancer sux.

Just sayin.

Friday's Frock

This was me at the party on Friday night....

It was my great friend Dennis's 60th..

SUCH a fun night..

I had this post half done but ended up with a busy weekend so didn't finish it..

(And now I'm sitting here on Sunday 11.30 pm
feeling gutted because Iris has just gone to hospital with a raging UTI..
She has been spiking 41s and vomiting intermittently for 24 hours..

She is with her daddy..)

So I'll finish the party post - I've got more photos to come of this great event...
Which I will
Soon-ish.

Story of a Dress - Frock on a Friday

I once had a dress..
It was one of my all time favourites..
Here I am in January 2010 wearing that dress...(singing at a friend's wedding)

And here I am in my best fisherwoman pose ...

Guess what happened to that dress?
MY.SISTER.LOST.IT.
I don't know how and she doesn't know how.
ANyway, I was gutted. (SHALLOW, or what?!)
It was my go to, dressup or dress down frock. So comfy it must have surely been made with me in mind.

I HOPED and HUNTED..
ANd a couple of weeks ago
there she was like a beacon in the darkness
staring at me from my screen
via trademe..

(The first dress I've ever bought online.. and I wasn't actually looking for one!)
Blue background, not red.

WAY shorter (more like a top than a dress actually)

SLEEVES still attached.
(I foolishly removed the sleeves from the other one  many many years ago as I found them annoying!! I kept them .. I had intended to reattach them..)

Happy.
(but remind me that bending over aint the best idea for photos, with my enormous endowments. Gah!!)

Happy Days!

I have a feeling Vintage Bird Girl fell in love with a skirt in similar delicious fabric..
