Collection Selection Linky Party - Planters

INspired by the lovely Planter collection at Thimble (I love that blog!!)
my collection today is a wee stash of planters. Not as eclectic as the ones at Thimble..
but I find it hard to pass them by.

I pick them up when I see them, but only if they're under $5..

These 2 burros twins are great mates.

They live on the window sill in our room. But that might change. Depending on if I find any more!!

Thimble
NZ Green Buttons
Vintage Bird Girl

will be getting some Mother Scout love in the mail..

And thanks to everyone who joins in.

Collection Selection Link up - Mother Brooches (not mine!) + Giveaway

This Collection Selection features one of my favourite collections, but it's not mine!!!

The owner of this amazing brooch collection, Nicky, has since gone on to make cards and gift tags that feature the brooches.. such a cool idea!! This collection is too cool to NOT share!!

As well as for Mothers' Day (obviously!) they could also be given to new (and returning!) mothers on the birth of their babes,  and as birthday cards/gift tags for your Mum or mum-in-law..
For me they evoke vintage memories of my precious Mum.
I've put this card on my wall..I love it.

Nicky sent me a set of these. (thanks Nicky!) She didn't ask me to plug them, but I love them so much I wanted to!

If you're in NZ or overseas and you're interested in getting your hands on some...
nicky@motherscout.com will get you there..

Here's her facebook page.

 Here's the sum total of my Mother Brooch collection so far (I'm working on it!!)
That's me wearing it on Mothers' Day this year.

I also thought that I'd share the love with y'all and give some of these brilliant MOTHERSCOUT tags and cards away!
Just add a linky below and you'll be in to win.

I'll select randomly (ie from a hat!) from the many millions of entries! lol
I'll leave this linky up for a couple of weeks so you have time to do a post if you want..

(thank you to all those who have joined me in the linky to date..LOVE seeing those collections!!)

Collection Selection Link Party- SPOONS

Just a hastily thrown together Collection today - better late than never!

There are large collections and small collections at my place.
This is a small one, obvs!
I pick them up when I see them, but only if they're 50c or less (or $1 for cool ones that really appeal to me!)
They sit in this little bowl on the bench by the sugar bowl and the tea pot ..

They're mostly NZ ones (there's the CHCH cathedral there) and the gondola and the luge in Rotorua.
Some are aussie as you can see.
I like them.
They're kitsch.

And they don't take up much space! (win!)

Linked up to Sir Thrift-a-Lot
coz you know I love a good link up!

What do you collect?!

Op Shopping Adventures

So here are some of my holiday op shopping adventures!
I've said it before on here -
Te Kuiti is an op shopping mecca!

Not much room for my legs
LOL!

This is what my friend got at one shop.
She rocks that jumper.
And that 'dog blanket'
is not
smelly
dirty
holey
or
threadbare.
Why it was proclaimed to be a dog blanket I know not!
She washed it and it's a beauty! Score!

Clothing for the kids -
50c for each one..
Thunderwear top
Cute twirly skirt
Handmade shorts

Shoes for me
The orange ones were a buck

I presume you put your spoon on this after stirring your tea.
And Pukekura Park is truly one of the most amazing parks you could hope to ever go to.

Apron, plastic bling, (the kind where the beads are popped together/apart to adapt the length)
20c napkins

20c tooled bag from a Te Kuiti op shop.
More holiday scores to come...

***

I've been meaning to put up some pix from the Collection Selection Link up I've been doing weekly..

For those that enquired, the couple from the house featured yesterday are in their eighties. The house itself was amazing, and what I've shown was a fraction of what they had in there. I want to be them when I grow up!!!
Jasmine collects Alice in Wonderland books.
Max has amassed a drool-worthy Crown Lynn Colour Glaze collection. (amongst other things!)

I had never heard of Vera scarves before, but Jill has a fabulous collection, and I'm quite inspired!
Kitchen Canisters to drool over @ Vintage Bird Girl

I'll add in more Collection Buddy links in my next episode!

Happy Days!
(apart from all the housework I really need to do!)

Collection Selection Link Up - HOUSE FULL!

I thought for this week's Collection Selection I couldn't possibly go past this Houseful of Collections
that I was incredibly privileged to visit.

The owners have collected
and I mean
C.O.L.L.E.C.T.E.D.
for years.

After visiting
I felt like I needed
a cup of tea and a bit of a lie-down.

It was unbelieveable.

I had permission to photograph, but I was so overwhelmed I did a crappy job of it.
It was
AWESOME!!!
Total highlight.
+ really lovely guy I could have talked to/listened to for hours/days/weeks
He had a story about everything.

This is about a 10th of the vintage radio collection.
Cameras.
And awesome wallpaper.

Some of the Bakelite NZ radios that wallpapered a room.

Nearly every wall had wonderful shelving units that housed the most mind-blowing collections I've ever seen in one spot!
Avon Perfume Bottles.
Salt & Pepper sets.
Crown Lynn Vases.
More cool wallpaper and picture mirrors
(I LOVE those things)
I was particularly enamored with the little birds I saw here and there..
DROOL

I hope these collections go to a museum one day.
Such a fabulous experience.

Next week I'll be back to my own, rather less substantial, collections!!!!

Collection Selection Linky - PLastic-Pretending-To-Be-Glass

This is a bit of a random collection, I know..
It's not a really collectible thing.. I just seem to collect it up!
This is a collection that I've just gathered in the last couple of years.
It's quite small..
And it's kind of daft..

But I've been meaning to photograph it because I wanted to see it together!

* SO PRETTY!

* Like stained glass windows.
These sundae bowls we had when we were kids. I pick them up when I see them, usually for 20c. I have  bought (thrifted of course!) 4 other sets that I gave to my siblings and friends who requested them..
(They are very easy to find!)

* Obviously, it's hard for the kids to break it
plus they feel posh with it on the table.
* KITSCH

At least some of it usually features on the party tables...

* It's cheap as chips.

* CHEAP
* KITSCH
* FABULOUS
* HARD TO BREAK
* QUITE EASY TO FIND
=
My kind of collection!

COLLECTION SELECTION - New LINK PARTY...

This is something I've wanted to do for a while!
PLEASE JOIN US!!!

 SO here's my first COLLECTION SELECTION.. I talked about these in my first month of blogging. I had planned to document one of my collections weekly.
 Fail!
 I think I got to Week 8..

SIFTERS

This is most of  my Sifter Collection.
I love them.
They are mostly all functional. I use them, and have them in a row on a high shelf in the kitchen..
This is them in 2008 at a Collector's Fair here in Hamilton..

My favourite is the birdie one  on the left of the 2nd row..
Most are Propert and Willow brands.

They are all bought here in NZ. I never saw a single one in the UK, despite searching high and low. I have seen a lot on EBay USA..

(linking up to OP SHop Show-Off and to The Nifty Thrifty coz y'all know I love a good link up party!)
