Pumpkins

On Sunday it felt like the first day of Autumn.
Finally.
Cold start which eventuated
into a beautiful day.

Perfect for the annual Pumpkin Festival at Hamilton Gardens.

I love this event. Very kiwi. Very chilled out.
Iris wore a pumpkin suit and was photographed by a lot of people. She quite liked it.

SERIOUSLY I will be dreaming about this pumpkin soup and rewena (maori bread) until next year. Such a good $3 worth. Perfect.

Rock on Hamilton.
Happy Days indeed.

Garage Sale Scores Part 3

Here is the 3rd and final installment of scores from the epic-est garage sale at our school a couple of weeks ago.
Part 1 here and Part 2 here if you missed them!

Missing 8 and 2 but I said that if no-one wanted them I'd take them home. Which they didn't. And I did.

yay new clothes!

Close ups..
I knew this box would have something cool in it..

the kind of puzzles we had when we were kids. And I think they were old then!

Another item of dress-up clothing for the stash.. for the-girl-with-the-best-dress-up-collection- I've-seen.

Another bag of promise.. It looked like old doll stuff..

It was.
Old sindy/babrbie clothes, which was a aREAL nostalgia trip..

check out the cute little label 'Sindy'

I had some similar sindy catalogue pages like this that I literally drooled over when I was a kid. I looked at them and admired them till they were tattered like these ones. I'm sure these have been similarly well-loved and used! These say 1978 so similar age to the ones I had..

Creepy eyed dolls'house dolls.

That's it!
Phew!

Frock on a Friday - Balloon Inspired

A hot air balloon took off from the paddock (school) behind our fence this morning.
I LOVE this time of year.
Kids so excited.

My Friday Frock is balloon inspired.
Not that I am able to spend any time at all thinking about what I'm going to wear. I have to make sure 5 kids are changed and breakfasted. This aint a simple process.

I don't know why I'm looking so cross.
Dress: op shop of course
Cardy : fill a box for $1 at our school garage sale a couple of weeks ago. VERY acrylic.
Belt and boots: op shopped of course.
Hem falling down - most likely my own work.

Action shot. .
Shame about the hem!

Back home again.

One day I'm going to fly away in one of those things.

Loving the new picmonkey effects..

And in other news - IT RAINED HERE YESTERDAY!!
It was refreshing.
We are still officially in drought.

Iris enjoyed taking her christmas present umbrella on its first outing.

Iris's frock - 50c at the girl guides' garage sale a few weeks back. She loves her cherry dress.

Happy Days!

Garage Sale Scores Part 2

Hope you all had a relaxing Easter weekend..

We had a great time having our annual meet up with some old school buddies in Ohakune..
Good times.

Here is the 2nd part of the scores from the garage sale a couple of weeks ago..

Old chairs like the ones that were everywhere in schools.. I really love them.  They are 'adult' size, not the little kiddy ones. Made by Sabel, Aust.
There were 6 but one had lots of obscenities and graphics scratched into it!

FINALLY found a kenwood mixer!
This has been a major covet of mine for years.
Here she is whizzing up some easter meringues.
Shoes for Iris.

MINT condition tin trays to add to my collection. None of my others are in great nick like these! No dents or rust.

Just love old plastic baskets. I think y'all know that now!
The little dolly has matching knitted gruts on.
Maybe for the wall..

Picnic ware to add to my set. There was so much stuff at that sale that I didn't even notice these until RIGHT at the end.

More bookery.

Clothes for Arlo and Iris mainly.
GREAT handmade dress for Iris. So perfect.

The kids in the weekend at the place we hired with 5 other families.
Bringing them up right.
(by the way, that's the holiday venue! We don't have a big f-off tv like that!)
Found some easter eggs on our bush walk..

So that was part 2.. I think there'll be another to come.

Hot Air Balloon Festival has started here in Hamil-vegas.
Fun times.

I need to catch up on blogs/comment..

Happy Days..

Scary bunnies

I had a couple of posts 'scheduled' to happen while I was away for Easter. FAIL.
I have no idea what I did wrong.

Just got back tonight. I will post them now. Better late than never.

It appears that it is VERY DIFFICULT to make a realistic/cute looking bunny suit.
Over the years many have tried and failed.
(*All pics from google-searching images!)

Evidence:
(If you have small children in the room hide the screen now!!!)

* I actually quite like that pink one.

**scariest ever above right.
* And how hard is it to make a realistic looking CARROT?? (pic above left)

Happy Days
