Just so lacking in energy - but mojo is slowly crawling back, thanks to some mean iron supplements.

Slim Pickings

This Op Shopping Mama hasn't been op shopping much!

The times I have, I have been disappointed by the lack of stuff I'm into, 

and how overpriced a lot of it is..

I don't often experience this.

It will be a temporary thing, I know.

Anyway - here are some of my recent finds, like from the last month..

Very South Island-y photo in a frame.

Quite a few new shirts and other clothes actually in half price/end of season sales..

Framed picture book pages. 50c so I had to get them.

Cute quilt.

FAB jacket (vinyl) Very cool. Modelled by one of my boys.

And I hadn't finished sharing my new treasures from the garage sale series (they had at least 4 - I missed the last 1 or 2 when we were away for a few weeks)

This little old doll has very cute knitted clothes - even undies. Her eyes open when she sits up.
I will give this to Iris in the future.

WE used to call these Swaps when we were kids - I'm sure they had a proper name!
A whole lot of them - SO awesome!!!

Just a selection - there are too many to photograph.

I particularly like the brownie ones. (top right)

I got a HUGE box full of olds mags.. ranging from 60s to the 80s. I am loving reading them. There are all sorts.

When people first got freezers, they also needed a publication to explain how to use one.. it includes what to freeze, how to freeze it, how it is safe, how to thaw etc... Fascinating stuff!

Blank albums. ONE DAY I'll fill all my fabulous blank albums with ACTUAL photos that I will have printed out!!

I'm still alive!!

The kids went back to school today.. so I have some breathing  blogging space.

Phew!!

I love the holidays. A lot. 

But BUSY is what it ends up being, just on account of the numbers! 

Home schoolers: RESPECT!

We made a list of what we wanted to do, and ticked it all off...

For example:

Camping- 

tick.

Beach-

 tick.

Pick blueberries-

tick.

Go to the BMX track-

 tick

***Etc..

We feel thoroughly holidayed!

Busy, Fun, Crazy times round here.

So this is to wish y'all the best of times this CHristmas, whatever you are getting up to..

And here's my favourite CHristmas Song.. It is quite long but def worth a listen.. This will particularly resonate for antipodeans.. 

I have listened to this so many times, but I STILL get choked up from about 3.45..

Trees at the Meteor

There's a cool thing happening here in Hamilton.

It's called TREES AT THE METEOR.

(the meteor is a theatre)

It's like Wearable Arts, but for trees.

It's like an art exhibition for trees.

Which is why I saved my op shop tags from the year!

I call it
Opportuni-tree.

My sister-in-law and I did this one too, just for fun.

Kids all cut jelly shapes out to decorate these jelly 'trees'.. One of the many interactive exhibits. 

Two of my personal favourites..
The one in the background was made of milk bottle tops. 

This was inspired by a christmas living in Mexico City.

Arlo and his hot chocolate 'tache.

Backyard cricket, televised of course. (I watched from the 'cafe')

Treasure Sale, Part 2

I KNOW!!! How cute is this guy?! (and a bit creepy?) He has a long elasticy dangly string on his head. Why? 

You all know I'm a picnic nerd, right?!

And that I have an obsession with swizzle sticks and cocktail forks?!
Yip I do! 

There was a little note on these saying they are for thawing stuff... Something I didn't know I needed!!

And finally... also for John..
I know we all spent many happy times sitting by one of these.
The sound quality is amazing! John will LOVE listening to the cricket on this.
The tape that was in there is Bill Haley and the Comets..
and it sounds way better than a CD..
Sadly, I think all my cassettes are gone.. I might have got rid of them a couple of years ago..
