HOT HOT HOT

SHEESH
this weather here is new to us!
Here in Hamilton the weather is typically unpredictable/4 seasons in one day

But right now there is one type of sky only...
The whole of the North Island has now been declared officially in drought..

My 3rd boy took these sky shots (and a whole load more) from his lower down perspective.
I quite like them

We've had parties to attend/create, stuff going on, op shopping of course (more posts to come of course)I've even done 'a gig' ...

..but mainly I've just been  chilling with my homies.
(well, trying to)
BUT it's HOT!!!
Would rather be on a tropical island somewhere
or at least at the beach
(My first attempt at an overlay ala Sarah who is the BOSS at it.. Excuse the skinny wrist etc!)

Recently Hunted and Gathered

Vernon Ward mirror, with my nostrils in it.

These are gumboots (wellies) but not as I know them.. they're made of light weight stuff as you can see. But totes waterproof. They're worth having a rainy day for. (not happening here - my region has just been officially declared in drought..)

Tin badges.
ORANGE suitcase - boom!!! $2

* 2 nostalgia puzzles (early 80s)
* Little forks set in box
* Another view of them boots
* hand bag for me
* hand bag for Iris (chosen by Iris)
* cottons (obviously)
* Game - blast from the past. Very cool.
* A groovy picnic set that my kids will LOVE. I just need to find another one the same so I have enough!

Butter dish. I have been looking for one I like... found it! Has a middle insert thing that makes it easy to wash.

Scores!
None of this set me back much at all.

I'll link up to some thrifty linkies soon..

Happy Days to you all.

Counting Us In!

Today is CENSUS day in NZ.

I wish I had some 80s towelling sweatbands for Arlo and I to wear as we embark on the 8-form filling out mission..

I was thinking of writing OP SHOPPING for my profession, or maybe for my religion..
I wonder what 'The Wizard' of Christchurch is going to do this year to avoid being counted..
Other years he has sailed out to sea on census day, or moved to australia momentarily. LOL.

Heaps of op shop scorez to share right here...
coming up in another post...
really soon..

Hope you're all better than the queen.

Happy Days

AN oldie but a goodie

This is one of those catch up jumble rumble posts..

I went to a great Jumble Sale in November or December..
(St Marks Church if you're interested Hamiltonians)
This lot cost me under $10.
For realz.

They REALLY knew how to do a SALE.
Huge tarps spread under gazebos with a 20c, 50c, $1, $2 and $5 area.
WIsh I'd taken my camera.
SO GOOD. Just mainly boxes to rummage through.
Good old-fashioned fun.

Hawaii kitsch. That big pineapple walks.

Box of envelopes (50c)
Cool carraffe (20c)
Plastic platter that looks like cut glass, and is SO useful. (50c)

* 3x melamine rose trays
* clothes for Iris the best dressed girl I know
(they also had fill a bag for $2 but I didn't photo that)
* table cloth
* Bizarre ragdoll clown, that I only got for the outfit!

A barbie with the funkiest hair-do any kid ever gave a barbie.

SERIOUSLY
I have coveted one of these
for YEARS
\ever since I saw one at my aunty's house.
This one works and was 50c.
STicky labels and everything.
SHeesh that is so much fun. I'm gonna turn into one of those people that labels everything in my house. Or not.

Cute glass serving plate. 20c

I've mentioned before how I love OLD plastic baskets. They LOOK cooler, they feel much nicer in my hands.
And check the sky out in that mirror.
Dang we haven't had rain here for 6 weeks.
I am not used to this.

A 20c ugly table set that I KNEW my kids would get buzzed about...
...see what I mean!!!!
Cute-ness.
Especially this line:
"What do you know about rocking a wolf on your noggin?")

That's not all that was in the boxes.. but I don't want to bore y'all too much..
It was a great, cheap sale..
I stashed the boxes in the garage until the other day when I finally photo'ed them.
It was a bit like christmas.

Speaking of sales, there are some EPIC ones around these parts tomorrow..
I might be in attendance.
(Who knows?!)

Happy Days

Free and Next-to-Nothing

I feel bad putting a new post up as I'm not caught up on all the comments on all my bloglist... everyone is too prolific!!!!! And I aint!!!

ANYWAY
this is a post about 2 thrift expeditions in January-
I am WAY behind on posting too!!
Gateway Op SHop's FREE bins were visited regularly by us.. We got quite a few bits and pieces..
Loads of dolls clothes, kids clothes and random clothing items for us...
I picked these up in there, knowing they'd NEVER fit my arse.. but the print has wild irises so I was gonna make Iris something out of them..

They happened to fit my friend Kath like a provervbial glove.
***

THere were a few Fill-A-Bag for-$5 sales at the newest op shop in Hams.. (St Francis)
We ALL went along to one of them.
It was a riot.

John trying on the most AMAZING wool coat that pretty much looks like it was made for him.

And there he is again loading up the boot.
LOL
He's a good bloke.

I didn't photograph everything. We got loads of great stuff.. incl:

Clothes for the kids that they chose themselves. Incl brand new thunderpants undies (love)

Lots of cardies, winters tops and pjs for winter. So good. That mint cardy at the top is brilliant.

wool blanket

linen

John's coat which is awesome and looks unworn.

Loads more, but I'm planning to gift a lot of it to some unsuspecting friends/bloggers...  eventually!! So I'm not going to photo them all on here..

I popped into Vinnies op shop the other day. Still in my top 3 in this town.

A glasses case to add to my collection. $1

My lovely assistant.
In other news..

I am finally, and slowly de-greying the walls of our house.

Starting with the toilet room, of course, as you do!
